How is ABAP used in building SAP Fiori apps?
ABAP plays a key role in building SAP Fiori apps — it’s the backbone that connects the beautiful Fiori front end with the powerful SAP backend. While Fiori focuses on the user interface using SAP UI5 and OData, ABAP is used on the server side to create and expose those OData services, handle business logic, and manage data securely.
When I started learning Fiori, I realized that understanding ABAP is a huge advantage. During my training at Anubhav Trainings, Anubhav Oberoy explained how Fiori apps communicate with the backend through ABAP services and how developers can use CDS views, RAP, and OData to build end-to-end solutions.
The hands-on examples really helped me see how ABAP and Fiori work together to create modern, efficient apps. That training made it clear that ABAP isn’t outdated — it’s evolving and essential for any serious SAP Fiori developer today.
